Every year on Halloween, miniature princesses, cowboys, superheroes, and ghosts come out of the woodwork in search of a sugar high. Deciding just where your little monster should trick or treat this year is probably even more difficult than actually making a look-a-like Minion costume, so why not organize your own Trunk or Treat event? Because this Halloween festivity takes place in a parking lot with plenty of activities to keep the children entertained, you will know exactly where your costumed kid is and what he or she is doing at all times. And it’s so easy to do – just follow these simple steps and you are on your way to having the Trunk or Treat of your dreams!
Pick the perfect venue. You might not think it’s hard to find the perfect parking lot—but it can be! For a successful Trunk or Treat, make sure you have great lighting, wide lanes, and plenty of room for both children and parked cars. This will make sure the kids can run freely without being in danger.
Set decoration and costume guidelines. If your event is aimed more towards younger children, rather than teenagers, you want to make sure that the decorations and costumes are appropriate. Make sure there is nothing that would be too scary for young children, so you can ensure that everyone will have a great time!
Ask for volunteers. The perfect set of volunteers will help keep your event running smoothly. Make sure you have volunteers for everything, including setting up the event and cleaning up afterwards.
Keep the kids entertained. Schedule some form of entertainment for the children throughout the night. A kid-friendly band, costumed superheroes, or arts and craft tables are a few great ways to make sure the children have a great time!
Have fun! Don’t forget to enjoy your own Halloween event! Dress up in a great costume, run around with your kids, and rejoice in your success!
