Organize a Trunk or Treat for Your Community This Halloween!

Every year on Halloween, miniature princesses, cowboys, superheroes, and ghosts come out of the woodwork in search of a sugar high. Deciding just where your little monster should trick or treat this year is probably even more difficult than actually making a look-a-like Minion costume, so why not organize your own Trunk or Treat event? Because this Halloween festivity takes place in a parking lot with plenty of activities to keep the children entertained, you will know exactly where your costumed kid is and what he or she is doing at all times. And it’s so easy to do – just follow these simple steps and you are on your way to having the Trunk or Treat of your dreams!

Trunk or Treat

Turn Trick or Treat into something even more fun and safe by hosting a Trunk or Treat!

Pick the perfect venue. You might not think it’s hard to find the perfect parking lot—but it can be! For a successful Trunk or Treat, make sure you have great lighting, wide lanes, and plenty of room for both children and parked cars. This will make sure the kids can run freely without being in danger.

Set decoration and costume guidelines. If your event is aimed more towards younger children, rather than teenagers, you want to make sure that the decorations and costumes are appropriate. Make sure there is nothing that would be too scary for young children, so you can ensure that everyone will have a great time!

Ask for volunteers. The perfect set of volunteers will help keep your event running smoothly. Make sure you have volunteers for everything, including setting up the event and cleaning up afterwards.

Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat can make Halloween safe, but still fun and scary!

Keep the kids entertained. Schedule some form of entertainment for the children throughout the night. A kid-friendly band, costumed superheroes, or arts and craft tables are a few great ways to make sure the children have a great time!

Have fun! Don’t forget to enjoy your own Halloween event! Dress up in a great costume, run around with your kids, and rejoice in your success!

With these steps, you are sure to have a blast at your own Trunk or Treat event. If you aren’t feeling up to having the event yourself, here is a list of other fun Halloween activities you can take your family to:

Cadillac Advanced Technologies Keep Consumers Connected

Tech-lovers everywhere rejoice! At the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) World Congress in Detroit, General Motors’ CEO Mary Barra made an announcement that is sure to tickle you pink—Cadillac will be offering advanced vehicle technologies on certain models in 2017.

Cadillac Advanced Technologies

More Cadillac advanced technologies will be coming for 2017 vehicles. You can experience Cadillac’s current innovations in vehicles today by visiting us at Coral Cadillac.

An all-new Cadillac vehicle, set to debut in 2017, will offer customers an advanced driver assist technology that is known by the working name, Super Cruise. This new technology will offer customers hands-off lane following, braking, and speed control in certain highway driving conditions. But that’s not all: The American carmaker will also introduce vehicle-to-vehicle communication technology in the 2017 Cadillac CTS, helping the car mitigate traffic collisions and improve traffic congestion.

“A tide of innovation has invigorated the global auto industry, and we are taking these giant leaps forward to remain a leader of new technology,” said Barra. “We are not doing this for the sake of the technology itself. We’re doing it because it’s what customers around the world want. Through technology and innovation, we will make driving safer.”

While you have to wait three years until the debut of these Cadillac advanced technologies, there are still plenty of great tech features available in the current Cadillac models. Come in to Coral Cadillac today and check these great features out!

New Cadillac Flagship Coming in 2015

Cadillac Logo

The new Cadillac flagship, the CT6 sedan, will be positioned above the CTS and XTS.

The stork has come to visit Cadillac and it has brought with it an announcement—the American carmaker is giving birth to its new Cadillac flagship in 2015! The new Cadillac CT6 sedan is the newest addition to the luxury brand’s lineup and heralds a whole lot of change for the carmaker.

While detailed information on the newest Cadillac model has yet to be released, we do know that it will be positioned above today’s CTS and XTS product lines as the new top-of-the-line Cadillac model. It will come with a rear-wheel-drive system and a variety of custom-designed materials that make it unique to its segment.

“This Cadillac will be the lightest and most agile car in the class of top-level large luxury sedans,” said Travis Hester, executive chief engineer of the Cadillac CT6. “Using the lessons learned from our dynamic ATS and CTS product lines, we have developed an entirely new vehicle architecture for the CT6. It will employ a mixed material philosophy that combines the best and most efficient components optimized for each area of this new top-of-the-range car.”

Along with introducing a new type of vehicle architecture, the CT6 will also mark the beginning of a new Cadillac naming system, which will change from the three-letter names we know to an alpha-numeric system beginning with “CT” and ending with a number that designates the relative size and position of the car in the Cadillac lineup.

We will be posting more information on the CT6 as it becomes available, so make sure you check back to Coral Cadillac for more updates!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness MonthTomorrow marks the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which takes place throughout the entire month. Each year during the month of October, advocates around the country focus on raising awareness for breast cancer and breast cancer prevention. How can you participate? We’ll tell you!

There are many ways you can participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month. An easy way is to simply help spread the word. Post about it online, update your cover photo, spread the news by word of mouth, or anything else you can think of. You can also participate through joining in on a fundraiser in your area. If you can’t find one already going on, why not start your own fundraiser? The National Breast Cancer Foundation offers a ton of easy options to fundraise for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In addition to spreading the word, donating, fundraising, etc., the easiest way to participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month is to create and follow an early detection plan for yourself. According to the National Cancer Institute, when breast cancer is detected early, in the localized stage, the 5-year survival rate is 98%. It’s easy to create your own early detection plan, especially if you utilize the resources available on EarlyDetectionPlan.org.

Please be sure to keep an eye out for additional ways to participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout the month of October – we know we will!

World Tourism Day

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go? Use World Tourism Day as an opportunity to dream and plan!

Coming up this weekend on September 27th, World Tourism Day will take place around the world. If this isn’t a holiday you’ve celebrated before, you may want to start! The United Nations started this day in 1980, and it has been a global day of celebration ever since.

World Tourism DayWorld Tourism Day highlights the value of tourism in social, cultural, political, and economic terms. This year’s focus is community development. You may be wondering what tourism has to do with community development – the answer is, a lot! When tourists and local residents in an area come together, they can share experiences with each other that help make both the people and communities involved more knowledgeable.  Learning about other people, customs, and ways of life can influence both individuals and entire communities.

It’s easy to see here in Pompano Beach and the surrounding area that our food, music, fashion, and more have been influenced by other communities from across the nation and around the world. For World Tourism Day this year, why not take a trip to somewhere you haven’t been before? If you have to stay in the area, you can still celebrate by striking up a conversation with any tourists visiting the area. They’d probably love to hear tips from someone local about the best tourist spots along the Gold Coast!

Fun Facts About Labor Day

Fun Facts About Labor DayLabor Day is a holiday that signifies time with family, eating a lot of food on the grill, and, for many, a day off work or school. Despite the fact that most Americans celebrate Labor Day in some way each year, it’s probably safe to say that most don’t really know much about the holiday. In light of this, we at Coral Cadillac like to take some time to share some fun facts about Labor Day with you.

–          Labor Day first became a national holiday on June 28, 1894. Congress passed the bill to designate a day for American workers to celebrate their achievements and be recognized for their contributions to the country.

–          When Congress passed the official bill making Labor Day a federal holiday, about half of the states were already celebrating Labor Day in some form.

–          The first Labor Day “parade” occurred on September 5, 1882 in New York City. This event wasn’t a parade in the traditional sense though – it was a protest march. Approximately ten thousand workers marched from City Hall to the largest park in the city at that time, Wendel’s Elm Park, where they listened to union leader speeches and enjoyed a concert and picnic. These ten thousand people gave up a day of wages to protest for safer working conditions, shorter hours, and better pay.

–          When Labor Day first came into existence in the late 1800s, many American workers put in 12-hour days, 7 days a week. Additionally, children as young as 5 or 6 worked in factories. The 8-hour work day was first established in 1916 with the Adamson Act (thank goodness for us!)

–          According to AAA Travel, 34.7 million Americans travel 50 miles or more away from home on Labor Day weekend.

What did you do to celebrate Labor Day this year? Let us know in the comments section below!

At Coral Cadillac, we value our workers and are proud of our team. We’d like to wish our staff, and all workers around the Pompano Beach area, a very happy Labor Day!
